Help low-income families with children this Christmas 2026 – the Good Holiday Spirit collection brings food to Christmas tables

Donations to the Good Holiday Spirit campaign will once again help low-income families with children in Finland this year. The donations will be used to purchase food vouchers worth 70 euros, which will bring relief and hope to 18,000 families who are facing difficult circumstances, such as low household income, unemployment or a crisis.

Inequality is often particularly evident around the holiday season, when families spend more money. Warm memories of the holidays are important to children, as they stay with them well into adulthood and give them hope. Holiday spirit comes from looking after one another and sharing responsibility for those in difficult circumstances.

We deliver aid through extensive cooperation

To identify families in need of assistance, the Finnish Red Cross branches and the local associations of the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare work in partnership with local organisations, such as social services and maternity and child health clinics. Through our extensive support network, we aim to identify precisely those families who need help the most.

This is the 30th time we have organised the Good Holiday Spirit collection. Poverty among families with children is on the rise, and it is affecting an increasing number of families. That is why the approaching holiday season may bring worry in addition to joy to many families. As well as distributing food vouchers, we aim to keep the public debate on child poverty topical and to remind decision-makers of the difficult situation faced by families.

You can donate now! We would like to extend a warm thank you to every donor.
